RCB's Strong Performance with Batting Highlights
In an exciting Indian Premier League match on Thursday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) managed to score a formidable 205 runs for five wickets, thanks to impressive half-centuries from star batter Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal.
Despite the challenging pitch conditions, RCB received valuable contributions from Jitesh Sharma, who scored 20 runs off 10 balls, and Tim David, who added 23 runs from 15 balls, helping the team surpass the 200-run mark.
Kohli, who scored 70 runs off 42 balls, and Padikkal, with 50 runs off 27 balls, formed a crucial partnership of 95 runs for the second wicket, effectively controlling the middle overs.
After losing the toss for the fourth time at home this season, RCB started well, with Jofra Archer's first over being eventful, yielding 11 runs, including a remarkable 149.8 km/h bouncer that went over the keeper for a boundary.
The second over brought its own drama when Riyan Parag, filling in for the injured Sanju Samson as captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR), dropped Phil Salt, who scored 26 runs off 23 balls, after a diving attempt.
Kohli began his innings with a boundary off a thick inside edge and later pulled Archer for another four to deep square leg.
Looking for a breakthrough, RR introduced medium pacer Tushar Deshpande, who was greeted by Salt with two boundaries.
Kohli then flicked a delivery from Deshpande for a boundary, helping RCB reach 50 runs in the fifth over. With another boundary off Sandeep Sharma, RCB concluded the power play with a total of 59 runs.
Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga provided RR with their first wicket by dismissing Salt, who was caught at deep mid-wicket after a leading edge.
Kohli reached his half-century in just 32 balls, marking his fifth of the season and his first at home, with consecutive boundaries off Sandeep.
Padikkal continued to find the boundary with ease, benefiting from a dropped catch by Deshpande off Hasaranga.
The duo of Kohli and Padikkal began hitting sixes against Parag and Deshpande, with the latter conceding three sixes in the 15th over, which added 22 runs to RCB's total, bringing it to a solid 156 for one.
Jofra Archer returned to the attack and quickly claimed Kohli's wicket with a slow leg-cutter.
Padikkal soon followed, hitting a slower ball from Sandeep to Nitish Rana, who managed to catch it after fumbling.
RCB's captain Rajat Patidar was dismissed cheaply.
